Stick It To The Man
It occurs to everyone eventually: Someone else is getting rich off your efforts while you sell away the moments of your life one by one. You have to make it stop or you will live and die as a drone that belongs to someone else.
The solution is to start your own business. There is something that you know how to do, or are committed to learning how to do; something you can contribute to the world under the auspices of your own banner. Why should you have to expend your life energy doing something entirely other than the thing you want to do, or doing it on terms defined by someone else? You should not and you cannot. You must start your own business. And chances are, you should have done it years ago.
Fortunately, I can help you save some of the time you have already lost. I can offer detailed guidance in satisfying the requirements of starting a business in Los Angeles: Determining what type of entity to form and helping to form it, drafting agreements related to the start-up of your business, naming your entity, obtaining a fictitious business statement, determining the necessary state and city permits and helping to obtain them, obtaining a federal tax id number, assessing whether the local laws permit you to carry on your intended business from your home, and even assessing whether you have intellectual property rights issues that need to be addressed. It is only when you have help at this level of detail that you can truly move forward, and this is the type of assistance that I can provide.
After working several years at one of the largest California premier law firms (known for helping numerous Silicon Valley start-up companies take their early steps), I eventually took my own advice and struck out on my own. I subsequently developed a deeper understanding of the needs of individual entrepreneurs while teaching a Learning Annex class in Los Angeles about starting one's own business. I believe I provide a unique resource in the level of detail with which I can lead you through the maze of starting up a business, and I look forward to doing it.
Starting your own business may not mean that you will immediately be able to quit your day job.
But, it will be that much easier to tolerate your day job until you can quit, once you have a plan to stick it to the Man.
